English 301 - Literature Studies - Rangahau Momo Tuhinga 301
Course Description
This academic course is intended for students who enjoy reading a wide variety of literary texts. Emphasis is placed on developing your ability to analyse and evaluate texts and on your ability to synthesise your understandings, forming your own conclusions. You will study an extended text, such as a novel or play, a film and texts that are unfamiliar to you. Based on your strengths in English, and with the guidance of your teacher, you will choose two of the three externally assessed achievement standards to sit. You will also undertake a theme-based Connections study and the Writing Portfolio. Additional internally assessed standards will be offered for students who have specific tertiary requirements they are seeking to meet.
